Wet Mud Basing Guide Part 1: Creating the Bases

•May 8, 2013 • Leave a Comment

Greetings all and welcome to a tutorial on creating wet mud bases as seen below on a couple of my first my Death Korps of Krieg miniatures.

I find this effect super pleasing as you can really feel the misery of the situation these troops find themselves in and it’s a wonderful change to the usual sand and flock appearance.

Ok so onto stage 1 of the the tutorial; Creating the bases.

Finally moved, new hobby area and an apology

Hey guys

So first off the apology. Sorry this blog hasn’t been updated. For those not aware (and wondering about the title of this blog) I am from the UK and my wife is from the USA. This blog was originally set up as the big move loomed but we suffered a number of delays with our paperwork and meetings etc… BUT

•April 17, 2013 • 3 Comments

Hey guys so, blight wheel miniatures received a C&D today that got my back right up!

The vage similarities that caused GW to threaten this poor small time guy led me to decide to try and show them how ridiculous they’re being…

Army in a day part 8 – start the clock!

•March 6, 2013 • Leave a Comment

Hi all

After a fantastic weekend away at the sci fi weekender I am cracking on with the army project. (It took 3 days to fully recover from a “wee nightcap” which rapidly escalated to destroying a bottle of whiskey (although a lot of that was spilled (or “mcneilled” as it is now known).

I started again at 3pm today and have just taken a refreshment/fresh air break with the following accomplished in those 3 1/2 hours.

Army in a day pt 7.5 – Ready the clock!

Today, whilst sorting through my boxes of things to ship for an entirely unrelated reason, I finally came across this…..

Within this box were all the missing sprues for the necron vehicles!!!!! Hurrah!

Army in a day pt 7. Stop the clock.

•January 20, 2013 • Leave a Comment

Hi all

So I have decided to contort the word “day” as to mean 24 hours. After my last post I dug out the vehicles and realized I was yet to attach the gauss flayer arrays to the 2 arks. This sprue has, In fact, been packed. I spent a bit of time trying to find it but at 6am I had to give in as I have concluded that it is in one of the boxes that I just can’t get to at 6am without making myself most unwelcome in my parents house….

So in 12 hours I completed the infantry. Sometime this week I will dive into the final 12 hours hitting the vehicles and the characters. I am deeply disappointed in myself but I am still rather proud of the results of this 12 hours. Further to that I have run out of black wash…… Bad planning

I feel rather silly now, especially since the very kind tweets regarding this from the podcast community, but hey, 24 hours is 24 hours right….. RIGHT!?!?!?

Anyway my spine is killing me, I have run out of red bull and its 6.30am….. Fare thee well good people.

Peace
G

Army in a day pt 5. Buck buck buck

•January 19, 2013 • Leave a Comment

So 6 hours in and I have made great progress on the infantry. Things were slowed a little by deciding all the glowy bits needed a white coat for the orange to be applied to… Followed by deciding to paint the death mark armor plates which is probably an hour or so work.

Things are looking rather good so far though I am a big face of the scarabcicle method of painting as you can see on the bottom right of the picture.

So Nando’s break is over (mmmmmmm chicken) and now for the next couple of hours. Have listened to all the Garro audio books and not sure where to go next for my listening, any ideas?

Feedback or encouragement welcome either here or via twitter

Peace
G

So here we go, silver base coats done and the gold added to the rank and file

I’m quite pleased with how things are going so far, this took around about Garro – oath of moment to complete.

Army in a day pt 3 – and so it begins

•January 19, 2013 • Leave a Comment

Morning/afternoon all.

So after oversleeping by about 3 hours I am rested and ready to go.

First job was setting up a makeshift airbrush booth on my desk, normally I just spray against an empty model box but this time I figured, with the volume, it may be best to create a booth.
